Service Description

Is your child struggling in school? Are you worried about their GPA and how their grades can impact their future? Do you want your child to earn scholarships and get into college? The sad truth is that many students are not learning effective study strategies in school. Most students use ineffective methods such as rereading and highlighting. As a former teacher, I saw many students struggle in 9th and 10th grade because they were not prepared for high school and did not know how to study properly. As a science teacher, I incorporated study skills within my classes and helped students during after school tutoring. I believe that helping my students develop study skills is one reason why my students were so successful on State Tests and AP Exams. Numerous students have reached out during their college years to thank me for teaching them how to study and persevere. In fact, I put this package together after helping a college student who was struggling and said that she wished she had learned these skills in middle school because her life would have been so much easier. I can help your child regain their confidence and improve their grades by teaching them how to learn and build habits that allow them to succeed in life. As part of the Study Skills program, I will help your child develop the following executive functioning skills enabling them to thrive in an increasingly competitive environment. My goal is to help your child take ownership of their learning and become a successful, independent learner. - Time Management and Organization - Notetaking - Research - Study Strategies - How to Master Vocabulary - Diagram Strategies - Perseverance Tactics - Methods to Boost Focus - Brain Food and Health - Parents: How to advocate for your child with teachers and administration This program can be completed online or in-person at one of the designated public locations in Crawford, Fort Valley, Macon, Perry, or Warner Robins.
