About the Founder
Hi, my name is Jessica Samson. I have over 20 years of teaching and tutoring experience. As a teacher, my students consistently earned the top scores in the school and within multiple districts.
My passion for teaching began at a young age. At just five years old, I discovered my love for education when my kindergarten teacher entrusted me with assisting classmates who needed extra support. I found great joy in helping others learn and this early experience solidified my lifelong commitment to education.
I have taught many different disciplines ranging from college level zoology to third grade Spanish to seventh grade life science. With formal teaching experience in the public school system, as well as expertise gained from working at a zoo, a 4-H center, a state park, and a college, I can make difficult concepts easy to understand and engaging.
I encourage students to set goals and high expectations for themselves. I once read a quote that said, “A good coach will make his players see what they can be rather than what they are.” I think the same is true for good teachers, and I want to enable students to see their potential and become lifelong learners.
My ability to help students learn has consistently delivered results. Example below:
• AP Environmental Science Scores (Crawford County High School; a rural Title I school): Achieved a 90.9% pass rate on the 2023 AP Environmental Science Exam (global pass rate: 52.9%), with 82% of my students earning a 4 or 5. In my first year (2021) teaching the course, I attained an 80% pass rate with 60% scoring a 4. The average percentage of students who passed their AP exams at Crawford High School from 2019 and 2020 was 19.5, so enabling 80 percent of my students to pass during my first year at Crawford illustrates my ability to help students excel.
