Service Description

Is your child struggling in college? Are they upset because they don’t understand why they are not making As and Bs like they did in high school? The sad truth is that many students did not learn effective study strategies in high school. Most students use ineffective methods such as rereading and highlighting. Professors cite a lack of academic skills and being unprepared for college rigor as two of the main reasons why almost half of the college students in the United States fail to graduate. The following is an excerpt from an article in Forbes Magazine. Less than half of college students graduate on-time. Even after six years, less than 60% of students at 4-year colleges have earned a Bachelor’s degree. The track record for community colleges is even worse, with less than 20% of community college students earning an Associate’s degree or Certificate. (https://www.forbes.com/sites/markkantrowitz/2021/11/18/shocking-statistics-about-college-graduation-rates/) I can help your child regain their confidence and improve their grades by teaching them how to learn and build habits that allow them to succeed in life. As part of the Study Skills package, my goal is to help your child take ownership of their learning and become a successful, independent learner. I will help your child develop the following skills enabling them to thrive in a competitive academic environment: - Time Management and Organization - Notetaking - Research - Study Strategies - How to Master Vocabulary - Diagram Strategies - Perseverance Tactics - Methods to Boost Focus - Brain Food and Health - How to Communicate with Professors This program can be completed online or in-person at one of the designated public locations in Crawford, Fort Valley, Macon, Perry, or Warner Robins.
