Student Achievement

I have worked in Title I schools throughout my career, driven by a passion for supporting students in underserved communities. Title I schools often face unique challenges and have lower standardized test scores than non-Title I institutions. Despite these challenges, my commitment to effective instruction and student empowerment led my students to consistently exceed district, state, and global averages on major assessments, demonstrating their potential and my ability to foster academic success.

• Peach County High School (Title I school) Biology Milestone EOC (State Test) Distinction: My on-level biology students outperformed the Level 4 (distinguished learner) school average on all EOCs (May 2024), despite the school’s results including honors classes. This achievement highlights my dedication to effective teaching and excellent curriculum design.

• Crawford County High School (Title I school) AP Environmental Science Excellence: Achieved a 90.9% pass rate on the 2023 AP Environmental Science Exam (global pass rate: 52.9%), with 82% of my students earning a 4 or 5. In my first year teaching the course, I attained an 80% pass rate with 60% scoring a 4.

• Crawford County 2022 Biology Milestone Results: My pass rate was 90.3 (12.9% achieved a distinguished rating), the school pass rate was 67.8, and the state pass rate was 71.5. In 2022, 72.6% of my students scored a 3 or 4 (distinguished and proficient levels) compared to 47.6% of students in the state.

• Crawford County Biology Milestone Improvement: Significantly elevated the school Biology Milestone scores, increasing distinguished learners from 5.2% (2019) to 10.3% (2021) and proficient learners from 15.6% to 41% during my first year at Crawford.

• 2019 Biology Milestone Results: 24% scored at a level 3 or 4; I had the most students score a level 3 or 4 out of the science and math staff at Towers High School (Title I school; Dekalb County School District)

• 2018 Biology Milestone Results: 35% scored at a level 3 or 4; I had the most students score a level 3 or 4 out of the staff at Towers High School

• 2017 Cobb County Student Learning Objectives Environmental Science district test Results: my class average was 74.3 (10% achieved a distinguished rating), the school average was 60.7 (2.7% achieved a distinguished rating), and the district average was 63.5 (5.6% achieved a distinguished rating)

• 2016 Life Science Milestone Results: 71% increased their scale score from the previous year, 34% increased by at least one full science achievement level, and 24% attained a proficient level (a substantial increase from the 8% in the previous school year) at Smitha Middle School (Title I school; Cobb County School District)

• 2014 Biology Milestone Results: 100% passed, 98% exceeded, and 42% scored a 94 or above at Northview High School (Fulton County School System)

• 2013 Results: 90% passed, 50% exceeded, and 71% scored an 80 or above at Calhoun High School (Title I school; Calhoun City Schools)

• Mentorship Success: Guided students in applying to colleges and competitive summer programs, resulting in scholarships and acceptances into prestigious programs, including Princeton University and the Yale Young Global Scholars program.
